    I bought cool & nice things when I could still afford them. They're still nice & still cool and they remind me that once upon a time I had enough to survive AND indulge myself. But now they also remind me of when I had a REAL family of my own... and how it's doubtful that will ever be so again.

    It's unfortunate that the legal contract and the religious ceremony have the same name, but that's tough shit. It's marriage or civil unions - pick one - and that's what we ALL have in the eyes of the State. The right to a contract that names our legal next-of-kin, period. The State's piece of paper is LAW. All the rituals in the world don't mean a damned thing (happily, for all those divorced Catholics) without legal documentation. Secularism FTW!
